Word on the street is Miyazaki is planning his next film, says that Studio Ghibli Producer Toshio Suzuki mentioned something rather about Miyazaki's planning. Unfortunately, when Suzuki announced this on Ghibli Asemamire Radio Talk Show aired on Tokyo FM, he stated that Miyazaki had not given him all the information of his next project.

He says that Miyazaki has been reading into an old Japanese tale about Sumo-Wrestling mice (cute huh?). I personally was hoping for a more mature Miyazaki Movie, but it seems the older Mr. Hayao gets... the more innocent his movies become.

Mayizaki said at the Vince film festival last August, that the next full-lengthed movie he oversees will not be for another 3 years (making it roughly 2 and a half seeing as though we are in a new year).

We can also expect a behind the scenes documentary for the making of Ponyo Miyazaki's latest creation. Said documentary, I think is still in production... Seeing as though I'm an zealous Miyazaki fan I will be sure to keep the blog updated if I learn anything new.

Welcome to Heartbreak,

KANYE WEST "Welcome To Heartbreak" Directed by Nabil from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.

Not exactly my favorite song, but Kanye's videos are always alright, in my opinion, it's lyrically a little weak, but music videos are fun to watch, this one in particular, the editing is so clever, and despite the cocky attitude I love me some Kanye.

Floating Cities,

FLOOD TEASER from flood movie on Vimeo.

"The Swimming Cities of Serenissima is a fleet of three intricately hand crafted vessels that will navigate the Adriatic Sea from the Karst region of Slovenia to Venice, Italy in May of 2009. Designed by the visual artist SWOON, the floating sculptures are descendants of theSwimming Cities of Switchback Sea (Hudson River, 2008) and the Miss Rockaway Armada (Mississippi River, 2006 and 2007)."

On the journey the artists involved in the project will be collecting random keepsakes they find along the way in a cabinet on the boats that will be put on display once they reach Venice, also the artist will be offering small performances that include music, and shadow puppetry... Who doesn't love some good shadow puppets?

There will be a benefit art exhibition in NYC in order to provide funding, of course, I won't be there... although I would love to be. The show will be MARCH 5-9 2009... and if you, like myself , can not make it. Todd Chandler has shot a short film called FLOOD (See above video) aboard the vessels. The short film is currently under production.

If there is one lesbian on this planet I wouldn't mind being,

It's Agyness Deyn...

So, lately the subject of beauty has come up a lot. I don't know why but it seems to be following, we even started studying it in psyche class. It's odd... First of all, there is away to define true beauty, it was discovered by Pythagroas, and he says that key to beauty is 1:1.681 or "The Divine Ratio", he said that people who are proportioned closer to the Divine Ratio are usually considered more beautiful.

The whole concept of beauty/attractiveness is very primitive of course it seems reasonable that we favor healthier younger looking people, and we tend to like people with similar faces to those of babies (babies have very proportional faces) big eyes, full lips, but with the facial structure of an adult, cheek bones, defined jaw, etc... We tend to like clearer skin and unconsciously we are taught to associate bad skin or facial deformities to bad people. Hence the reason people use make up. In the end we are constantly advertising our selves for sex, and mating, and finding a partner. Women want men who look like they can protect and raise a family. Men tend to go after women who look fertile, young, and able to bear children, or at least that's the impression I get.

It kind of interesting to thing about... and then it raises the question, Well what about homosexuality?
Is that where personal preference come into play? Or is there still some sort of science behind it... Hmmmm.

Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea,

Ponyo is a fish, Ponyo's parents are the rulers of the sea, after getting stuck in a jar in her sea (which is becoming quite polluted) Ponyo is saved by Sosuke. Sosuke breaks the jar, and begins to bleed, attracted to the sent of his blood Ponyo tastes it, thus becoming a mermaid. Ponyo likes ham and tea. Ponyo would like to be a real girl... She tries really hard and suddenly grows arms and legs...

I don't wanna give away too much. But Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea, is essentially Hayao Miyazaki's version of The Little Mermaid. It is a story about a boy who finds a fish and decides to keep it as a pet, when the boy is cut rescuing the fish it gets a taste of human blood thus making it a mermaid.
Soon the boy discovers that the fish can talk (as kind of a side effect to the whole mermaid thing I think). Ponyo now desires to be a human, and slowly begins to transform into one. In order to become a full human, Sosuke has to be deemed a faithful boy who will never leave Ponyo's side.

The movie has very strong enviormental influence as most of Miyazaki's movies do, and there is a small Nature v. Man conflict that isn't focused on much, but is definietly there... (Ponyo's father hates the humans and thinks they are disgusting and vile) after all they are polluting his waters.

This movie is heartfelt, and warm, and makes you wanna cry sometimes with the amount of happiness in it. All in all really good for the entire family.

I'm so excited for the release of this movie, It's going to be crazy insane for those who know what's going on it will be a wonderful experience seeing this graphic novel brought to life, for those of you who don't you are in for some major surprises, I won't say anything about the plot except for that it's amazing.
The film is set to be released on March 6... BUT for the fans of the graphic novel (SUCH AS MYSELF) There is something I'm really excited for. TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER! It's being released as a driect-to-video film and it's going to be intense.

For those of you that don't know, Tales of the Black Freighter was a graphic novel inside the novel that was correlated to the plot of the story. It's about a man who is stranded on a dessert island after being attacked by a ship called the black freighter, everyone in his crew dies except for him. The entire story is about this man trying to get off the island, he goes crazy, buries his dead men, then digs them back up to construct a raft from their dead bodies, so on and so forth.

Gonna be intense. CAN'T WAIT Tales of the Black Freighter will be released March 24.

Black Freighter will be animated, and was going to be included in the watchmen movie itself but had to be cut out due to budget restrictions, Synder is talking of releasing the DVD for watchmen 4months after the Freighter and is considering including the animated film in the Movie as it was intended. This will bring the running time of the movie to 3hr25min. Ha! that's extreme.
